What we store in your browser, and what we don't.
keith.com sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. That is why there is no cookie banner.
We count visits and page views using PostHog in cookieless mode, hosted in the European Union. To tell one visit from another on the same day, a one-way hash is made of your IP address, browser type and a value that changes daily. It cannot be reversed, does not identify you and does not follow you from one day to the next. If you would rather not be counted at all, email sam@keith.com.
Once you are a client, app.keith.com stores a small number of things because it cannot work without them. These are strictly necessary, so they do not need your consent:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in so you do not have to log in on every page | Until you sign out, or the session expires |
| Sign-in redirect | Remembers which page to return you to after you sign in | 10 minutes |
| Sign-up progress | Saves your place in the sign-up flow if you close the tab part way through | Until sign-up is complete |
| Your analytics choice | Remembers whether you said yes or no to the question below | Until you sign out |
The app also runs PostHog, and here we do ask. When you sign up you will see an unticked box asking whether we may use analytics cookies. If you leave it unticked, the app counts page views in the same cookieless way as this website and nothing else is stored. If you tick it, we set an analytics cookie and may record how you use the app, with anything you type and any document you view masked, so that we can find problems and improve it.
You can change your answer at any time from your account page in the app. Changing it to no stops the recording and clears the cookie.
We do not use advertising or social media cookies, and no third party sets cookies through our website. Links to other websites are covered by their own policies.
Where analytics involve personal data, such as an IP address, we process it under our legitimate interests as described in our privacy policy, which also sets out your rights and how to complain.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block everything, the Keith app will not be able to keep you signed in.
